| 98 silverado 205k miles I was looking for a truck when i came accross this silverado chevy 1998, it looked like brand new and had 205k on it, i called the owner and he said he never had any trouble except for water pump, and turn ups, he used mobil one oil and flushed the trans every 25k, my question is how long will that engine and trans hold up, we pulled a valve cover off and it looks like new inside, no tarnish, or brown, trans fluld looks red, and car runs perfect, i did replace fuel pump and pit man arm, but other than that its fine even the tires were new |

| any motor will run forever if maintained right. If it was maintained great, and you do not abuse it, I would expect you to get a long life out of it.

| I agree with junior now I wonldn'ytflush the trans with that machine that does it I have heard that it will cause a old transmissions to leak also start saving money I would say the trans is going to shell out soon and keep using the same oil just wondering if you don't mind what did you pay for it my plans are to run my truck till it falls apart and so far for being a 93 model it still looks super and the engine has 160.000 plus miles on it and still doesn't burn oil I guess that's why im a GM man these 5.7 engines sure last. Good luck! And Welcome! |

| WOW, still being in perfect shape, 4500 seems kind of steep. KBB, with 4wd and the 5.7l and every option on that truck including the stepside bed only puts it at 4200...... and thats not even deducting for mileage...... Hmmmm. No tears, scrathes, dents, dings, fading? Tires are new? 4WD works? Automatic? Just curious.

| its 2wd and i thought price was pretty good considering the shape it was in, we will rebuild the trans with new hard parts,, we can do this our selves the truck get 20mpg also, no tears, the old owner used seat covers for 10 years and the carpet is spotless with factory rubber mats that are not worn,i cant beleve how clean the inside of the engine is after 205k looked brand new, that mobil one must be good stuff, you know whats funny, i drove it out of the car wash and a rock cracked the windshield, that was 2 weeks after i got it , what a gas |

| I am so sorry that happened...LOL. And I want you to know, I did not mean you got a bad deal, that was just a reflex response from working in the car business for so long, and knowing how many miles you have on it. every area is different, and if you maintain the truck, it will pay fir itself. I hope you did not take it that I was questiioning, or trying to down grade your find.

| I have 99 1500 Silverado with 200 k and just had to replace the trans(4L60E) Friday. The sun shell gear broke ( no fault of poor maintenance) the shop that replaced the trans commented that when they removed the pan trans was very clean and fluid was clean. (I run Amsoil in all the moving parts). I plan on running this truck until it will go no more. If you treat the truck like ahigh milage truck, then you should have no problem getting your monies worth . |
