Idler Pulley?

How can you diagnose which pulley is bad?

I hear a squeek and it gets louder when I idle the engine.

This is a good question with a simple solution.
Find a spray bottle that has a "stream" setting, or one that can be adjusted to stream plain water.
Spray the clean plain water on the pulley, or bearing that you believe is suspect. You do not want to get water all over the place, just enough on a local area to isolate the squeek. The plain water will allow just enough lubrication to make the squeek go away for a short period of time, and not cause a mess like oil will. Isolation is a snap this way.
This method is easy and clean while still very effective.
Good luck troubleshooting.

Could also be your belt. Mine looked brand new (serpentine) but had another one around and changed it and all was quiet again

You know, someone suggested to use WD40. But I'd hate to slip up and have WD40 all over the belt.

Thanks for the info......
