| I just bought a 1998 Chevrolet C 3500 with a 6.5 Liter diesel. When I turn the key to start the truck it will just click like the batteries are dead or the starter is bad. When I turn the key to the off position and try to start again the truck starts up. It does this frequently but not all of the time. Does anyone out there have any idea as to what is going on? |

| could be one of a few things. A bad electrical connection at the batteries or starter, a short, bad ignition switch etc.. I would start by checking the battery connections and cleaning them if corroded and work my way from there.

| yeah could be a few things, could be dirty starter solenoid, making contact sometimes, have had this before, most of the times people replace starters its just a bad solenoid,... |
