72 GMC to Chevy Conversion I have a 72 GMC 4x4 1/2 ton...its all original and i want to convert it cosmetically to a Chevy...i am looking for some insight to what I have to change to make it look like a 72 Chevy...for example...does anyone know if I have to change the core support in order to accpet a Chevy 71-72 chevy grill? Bumper brackets? Fenders...which is a major issue, some catalogs list that the 71-72 GMC fenders are compatible with a 69-70 Chevy truck, but the 71 and 72's are not compatible....a little confused, I'd like to talk to someone who has either encountered this themselves or is a subject matter expert on these trucks....private email is mxz70033@aol.com ....Id also like to know how to identify these differences as I would like to do this truck as cheap as possible as far as the parts go and seeing as how I currently am residing in TX I have access to plenty of rust free sheet metal in the junk yards...unfortunately...(and no offense to those who's nicknames are the same) I have found that people who go by "Buck" and "Bubba" do not know a 67 from a 72 fender as they all say they are the same when the 67's are visibly more sleek just for example....

| check out LMC Truck Parts: Chevy Chevrolet Blazer S10 GMC Jimmy S15 Ford Bronco Ranger Pickup Pick Up Accessories/Catalogs they can show you differnt fenders between the years etc..... core support etc.. should be the same. if there is any difference I would think it would only be the fenders (in the way the grill attaches to it).

yeah i have the lmc truck catalog and a paid for the big classic industries catalogs, unfortunately no one could tell me with both of their customer supports if the core supports are the same or not...my biggest concern is like my 93 chevy, if i wanted to upgrade from the cheyenne/work truck grill to a split composite light system the core support needs to be changed to accept the light buckets....with my 72 the GMC had the 4 headlights vs the 2 that chevy had.

724x4 Did you find out if you can just swap GMC for Chevy? I have a 69 that I was considering putting the GMC 4 headlight front end on. chuckphillips/Truck - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

thats what i am looking into....getting too many different answers on which year model body styles are transferable....to my current knowledge my 72 gmc which falls into sheet metal catagory as 71-72 gmc truck OR 69-70 chevy fenders.....so a 69-70 chevy fenders are the same that are on my 71-72 gmc...from what i am gathering the 71-72 chevy fenders were totally different as far as dimensions
