IAC valve

Does anybody know how to test the idle air control valve to see if it is working properly?

it's easy with a scan tool, but since most people can not afford the luxery of one of those, i will have to look up the hard way when i get off work tonight.

shoot me a Private Message around 11pm if no one else chimes in with the answer.

With it unplugged, you could check to see that each of the two coils
has about 40-80 ohms (A to B and C to D)
What makes you suspect the IAC ? Something like high idle could be
caused by a dirty crankcase valve or other easy stuff.
Which engine is this ?

year make model?

all sorts of IAC valves have rolled off the lines.

this is a 4.8 v8 fuel injection, 365,000 miles, the iac valve is just one of the things im investigating to figure out my idle problem,

thanks for the link...my truck will not communicate with a scanner,and I have dumped too much money in it as it is which is why im wondering if I can pull the egr valve off clean it and put it back on? I have replaced the tps,coolant temp sensor,put plugs wires ,changed the fuel filter,

even if autozone scans for free my truck will not communicate for some reason, so I have to guess. it Idles up and down in the mornings ,warms up and is fine, any ideas?

I,m thinking EGR valve But its 150.00 Im tired of putting $ into this truck Any Ideas?
