1988 silverado speedo problem

does anyone know why my speedo stops working but if i tap the glass a couple of times with my fingers it starts right up again? would it be sticking on something is it easy to pull apart and fix?

have you ever replaced the speedo cable? that could be your problem. autozone has a cable for $9.00 for your truck

Should be easy enough to pull the IP and take a look at where it connects. Does that truck have the cable or is it electric ?

then you need to have it rebuilt. he is a guy that can factory rebuild them he is at digital_dash_solutions@comcast.net and he is at ebay.com same name there too. i'm going to use him next week. alot cheaper than the dealer for half the price and upgraded too. sence the dealer will just send it to him to get fixed anyway LOL.

That's one of the newer "fun" trucks with so much crammed into same mods.
I guess the good side is it can't be the buffer because the VSS runs straight
into the VCM and therrefore there isn't one.
Maybe worth looking for the low tech bad dash connector problem before getting speedo reworked.

That's right crabtruck if nothing there go to junk yark and buy a used one they even sell you warrenty now days.
