sb 350 rebuild

I have a sb 350 out of my old '79 custom deluxe that i plan on rebuilding. I plan on buying a 1970 chevelle and i want to get some nice power out of it. Do you guys have any advice on some good combinations for it and where would be the best place to buy the parts? Also with the crankcase bearings.. i dont really know what a "journal" for the bearings are, so if you could tell me what the difference between small journal and large journal and what ones would i need? any advice?

Thanks!

By big journal/ small journal I would think it means the oil passages for the crank (the holes in the bearings).

as far as combinations unless you want to get outrageous edelbrock etc... offer combo kits that will have heads, cam, intake, carb etc.. that have been tested and proven for power gains.

Do your home work on what type of block to buy and heads you need to get the most out of it the right parts will make your car fly. Like this web site Wallace Racing-Drag Racing Pontiac powered Firebirds,Trans Ams and Dragsters you can see what type of block with heads will work better im sure there is some chevy sites out there that will have the same spec's to help you out im taking my time in building a Poncho motor a 400 or 455 pontiac engine for the right car to drop into maybe a 69 Firebird I had a 1970 GTO in High School that car would get after it I sure miss it.
