2005 spare tire issues on full size chevy

Heelo folks I am having issues getting the spare tire for my 2005 full size chevy truck off. It appears to be spring loaded or something. Have tried all I know how to get it off. If anyone out there has had to do this before or knows a trick to the trade. I need to get the spare tire off and would love to hear from anyone with some help on this issue

Welcome to the site;

What seems to be the issue? That spring is there to provide tension on the tire to prevent a rigid mount from letting go when hitting bumps.
That is a cable actuated winch and most folks only have troubles unlocking the thing.
What difficulties are you having exactly. A little more specific would help.

you are supposed to let the tire down as far as it will then crank it back up then down again and its supposed to go to the ground. I read it in the book on my 03 a while back I can look again if you need me to but i think that was the system
