| First an 87 should be TBI if it is you want to stick with the 700R4 for a couple reasons. a 350 is shorter than the 700R4 and the 400 so you would need a longer driveshaft. and the 350 dosent have overdrive which ive been told the TBI systems need in order to "save" gas MPG on the highway. and you have to buy an aftermarket Vehicle Speed Sensor to talk with the ECM The 400 has a bigger output shaft which would mean at least a new yoke and or a different driveshaft. it too is a 3 speed no overdrive. but the kickdown can be controlled by the ECM and i think you need an aftermarket speed sensor for that one too. Thats all I got |

| 700R4 is a good transmission and can be made stronger if you need . Up grades are available when rebuilding such as beast sun shell steel pistons instead of aluminum shift kits etcetera .. But good luck which ever way you go |
