Question 1994 GMC Sierra 4X4, EGR prob., battery drains

Hey fellas!
Im new to this site and need help! I have a 94 Sierra 4x4 350ci and i got an egr code that will not go away. Since then ive pulled the intake and cooked it clean, cleaned the egr valve (holds vaccum) cleaned the throttle body, and tried 4 different (dont know what its called but the part the vaccum hose comes from that goes to the egr valve) from parts trucks.

Problem #2
Ive replaced cap, rotor, wires, pcv valve, basicly a tune up when i did the intake. Now its got a rough idle when cold and the tach jumps all over the place even when im driving down the road until its at full opperating temp.
???????

Problem #3
Battery drains dead after it sits for a couple weeks, Its worse in the winter. done this for 3 years now. sick of unhooking the battery when its gonna sit a while.
Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sometimes even though your egr valve holds vacuum it may still be bad. have you checked the vacuum hoses themselves. your problem 2 sounds like its related to problem one. and problem 3 sounds like a bad alternator. it may charge it fine but it could also be slowly draining your battery. or the battery itself is bad. it sounds like a bad battery if it gets worse in the winter.

jimbo543 has a spectacular aura aboutjimbo543 has a spectacular aura about
if you are getting a code 32 it could be a bad torque converter clutch solenoid (tcc sol). there is a diode in the sol, if it goes bad you get code 32. key on engine off (koeo) all acc off, jump aldl term a to b and watch ses lamp for about 5 mins, if ses lamp dims, stops, erratic, tcc sol b/o.
i had 1 past test and still be b/o, about a dozen fail test.

That would be the EGR solenoid
It should have a hot on one side w/key and low on other when PCM tells it to open.
Hopefully you are aware you need to clear the code yourself when problem is fixed.

Adding to jimbo's idea, any of the relays that the PCM looks at can cause
a problem if they are less than 20 ohms across their coils when removed.
Solenoids and relays are in the same family, coil operated whatevers.
The tach jumping/bad idle may be caused by a problem with IC mod or pickup.
You may want to replace those hoses and look for other vacuum leaks.

If you have been killing the same battery for 3 years, it's time for a new one.
Any battery will die if left long enough, but if your's is going in under 3 weeks,
you need to find the drain You can break the truck into smaller sections
by pulling fuses or disconnecting fuseable links from junction block.

just trace the vacume hose from your egr valve and it is the first thing you hit
