Front End Issues Hey guys im new to these forums but i need some help. I have a 2000 silverado reg cab 1/2 ton. The issue is hard to explain so bare with me, but when i come to a stop i feel a weird movement in the truck, it feels a little like when the truck comes to a full stop it still moves forward a bit not with tire movement, but just a slight momentum. Then when i let off the brakes to start moving you can feel it again. Im new to trucks, always been a car guy so this could be common but not sure. Any ideas or solutions would be great thanks.

Welcome to the site: The problem that you have described is interesting, and you say that the vehicle does not move, but it just feels as though it does. Well in my best guess, I could point you towards one of two things, you either have dry splines on the steering shaft, or dry splines on the driveshaft. I believe that you have a one piece driveshaft, but the splines in the slip yoke, where it meets (enters) the transmission can get dry, yes, even though the tailshaft is wet, the splines can get dry and bind causing this problem. You should perform an inspection of the driveline to verify that you do not have any bad joints, but it would not be a bad idea to pull the driveshaft and grease the splines a little. The steering shaft is a little more difficult, but the same symptoms are possible. If there is tension stored in any of these splines, it may release the stored energy after a stop, and you feel like the truck has bumped, or continued to move. I could be crazy,(no doubt about it, I am way out there, lol) but this is my best guess.

i would take a guess at possibly your upper control arms are loose, especially if its a 4wd, seen it many times before easy to check, but could be alot of things, engine or trans mounts.....etc, loose rear axle U-bolts i could go on for ever.....

It is a 2wd but i can look into those things listed. Also i have been reading about the steering column problems, it sounds a bt similar to the problem i am having and i guess it is typical.
