| 89 tranny problem??? I know this is the chevy forum, but I am really at a loss, and want to get as many ideas as possible!!! Thanks! I have a 1989 GMC K1500. About six months ago the diff. in the rear axle imploded. I got a new diff. About a month later my tranny cracked at the tailshaft (my guy tells me it was right where the reverse gear sets). I figured it was weakened or dammaged when the diff went bad (it locked up going down the road at 70mph). So I got a new tranny (after it set for several months). Now, after 6 weeks of driving, the tailshaft has cracked again. Does anyone have any ideas?? I am thinking that the 4x4 gears that set inbetween the tranny and the driveshaft could be damaged, and then causing torque or pressure on the tranny?? I don't know, but I know I am not going to spend another $500 before I get some help! Thanks guys!! |
