| i found this for you and yes gmc did have carters on them. hope this helps you alittle Carter built quadrajets: Carter Carburetor Company of St. Louis produced millions of quadrajets under license from GM from 1966 through 1979. These carburetors carry the exact same identification as their Rochester counterparts, and parts are directly interchangeable. Carter also produced "aftermarket" replacement quadrajets, which will be identified by the traditional Carter part number (4 digits, followed by the letter "S"). An example of this numbering system would be 4675S, which is identical except for the number to 7028262.

| I thought Rochester made these 4MV's for 1973 ?, maybe I'm wrong. Various 4MV's were used 1970-78 on the 350's Anyway the specs I saw for the 7043202,(and -03, -10, -11) were: float=7/32,accel=13/32,rod=0.430,vac=0.215,unloader=0.450,air vlv=0.020 1972 4MV #s were 7042xxx =>206,207,208,210,211,218,219,910,911 that all seem pretty similar as a group but way diff than the 73's to me but I don't know bubba about carbs, so large grain of salt. Hope something here was useful... |

| This can be a real pain, but Carter did manufacture identical carbs. Instead of getting real deep into this, since they are identical, I have always used repair / re-build kits for the Rochester on anything resembling a Q-jet. Here is a link that can help you identify your "mixer" and perhaps get you down the road. http://www.carburetion.com/Questions/QandA.htm As long as I am typing here, I might suggest simply replacing the carb, and updating it to something a little more current. Perhaps a new / re-built q-jet, or even something along the lines of a Holley truck avenger. The Avenger will require an adapter, or different intake since it is a square bore, but they work well, and a new intake will provide a bit more performance, as will the carb itself. |
