cam shaft choices

I'm thinking about an engine rebuild for my 95 Z71 5.7. I'm gonna keep the TBI and would like some advice on picking a cam for this computer controlled 4x4. I want to try and build as much torque and HP as i can without changing throttle body. Any ideas or tips would be appreciated.

edelbrock makes a performance package for the tbi engines. the kit comes with aluminum heads, cam and lifters, and tbi performer intake manifold. they also supply a chip for your computor. i have used the cam from this pacage (edelbrock performer plus camshaft pn 3702) and felt a noticable difference on a stock truck.

these are the specs on this particular cam
#3702

ENGINE: CHEVY 305-350 V8 T.B.I. & LG-4
RPM RANGE: 1500-5500

Duration at 0.006" Lift: Intake: 268°Exhaust: 288°Duration at 0.050" Lift:Intake: 194°Exhaust: 214°Lift at Cam:Intake: 0.265"Exhaust: 0.294"Lift at Valve:Intake: 0.398"Exhaust: 0.442"Timing at 0.050" lift:OpenCloseIntake:10° ATDC24° ABDCExhaust:44° BBDC10° BTDCCenterlines:Lobe Separation - 112°Intake Centerline - 107°

CAUTION: Use Performer-Link Timing Chain and Gear Set, #7800 . Do not use late model timing sets. They are machined in a retarded position and are not recommended for this camshaft installation. Edelbrock Performer-Link True Rolling Timing Sets feature three keyways for specific timing selection. Always use the “0” or straight-up timing marks when installing Performer-Plus camshafts with Performer-Link Timing Sets.

Use only Sure Seat Valve Springs, #5802 or 5902 Use stock ratio rocker arms only
