| Does anyone hear run a MSD Ignition on their TBI? I'm wondering if anyone has installed a MSD ignition 6AL box and the MSD distirbutor, Cap and wires on a Chevy 5.7 TBI? I already have the box my next step is to get the distributor, cap & wires. I was wondering if there is any way to keep the GM distributor and just get the cap, rotor and wires. on carbed H.E.I. this is pretty easy since there is no ECM to consider. what do you need to consider for the ECM? If anyone has gone this route let me know how it worked for you

| I installed it all on my engine, and every thing but the 6al box has burned out, even the wires. MSD replaced the wires the first time but not the dist. So I bought a new stock replacement. Now I was left stranded on the side of the road with my 2 girls, 2 and 3, in the pouring rain because the coil burn out. I now use a stock dist, red Taylor wires and a Crane Hi6 Ignition. The Crane is better because it fires 12 times where a MSD only fires 3 under 3,000 rpm. All parts have less than 700 miles when failure occured. Contacted MSD and the said out of warranty period-SORRY! So I put it all in a box and shipped it to them marked "CAUTION!- BOX CONTAINS ****!!" |

| Interesting. I have never had a problem with any MSD products. I run everything from thier ignition boxes, 6 and 7 series, to thier wires and coil packs for the LSX engines.I am telling a fib, I did have one failure with a 7AL box, but i believe that it was my fault. Installition problem, and the vibrations got to it, but I cant confirm either way. Changed the box, and how it was mounted, and it has been working ever since. Ay any rate, if you decide to go the MSD route, you can use the box with a stock style HEI distributor, you instructions will show you how to wire this. Then after you upgrade to an aftermarket "dizzy", you can do so quite easily. |

| MSD wires to me are the best im running everything MSD but the Dist which just came in the other day I just have to put it on. You can run everything stock if you just have the box but I just started with the wires then I bought the box and dist cap and rotor then I bought the coil now the Dist will finish it off and I bought it for just $50.00 dollars. |

Why not just go back with all AC Delco tuneup parts, have read so many that have problems with computer issues after installing other than AC Delco parts. Did the Orginal Equipment AC Delco parts not last or perform well. Mine are at 80K and no problems so far. I thought these high dollar replacement parts were for race applications. Motor ran at top rpms for a short time, not for just general good ol boy daily driving. ???????????? | |
