Chev Silverado Stereo 1999

Seems like only the tweeter on my driver side door works.Very little sound from it.Took it to an install place-they said woofer was shot.-6mths ago.Now yesterday both speakers worked.Dont know where to start.Check both speakers? Is there a way to check the crossover(if it has one) and where is the crossover located?Truck is back to only driver side door tweeter working today. All other speakers work.

sounds like the speaker terminal or the sivler briaded wire from the speaker to the terminal is bad or worn out since it works sometimes. I dont think it is your actual wire from the deck to the spaeker because the tweeter works and they get the same signal via the same wire just in paralel.

you can probly rig it up if you know how to solder but this fix doesnt last long if you like your music loud, the vibrating eventually breaks the solder

I'd say you need a new speaker and they only come in sets

sony xploids from walmart will fit right in. the orginals are held in by a clip built in to the speaker. ive done this on a 99 silverado and a 2003 silverado. just a little rewiring and the new speakers screw right in. door panel is easy to remove just 2 screws or 3 and it picks up a 1/2 inch and comes right off. one is by the handle to close the door and the other is behind the door lock switch not the button but the whatchamacallit the one with the orange. it just pops out and theres an 8mm screw. easy easy easy. joe blow from coca moe could do it

1999 silverado stereo speaker

Will wait for nicer weather.Listened to the Sony 3way 6X9s-VERY nice sound.Checked the manual from the library for the truck-wow no 10 clips or so to replace.

If you are still curious, the crossovers for the seperat woofers and tweeters are in the respective doors. Mine do this too. My lower woofer is actually blown though so when it does kick on, it sounds like ..... you know, anyways, I looked into this myself, although i am going to replace it with a new component set. The sony's are nice, but not long lasting. For the same price, you can go with Pioneer or even JCV and get better long term sound.

Now if you do put just two or three way speakers there, you will need to remove the lead wire from the crossovers and run direct power to the speakers, or you will only get your lows there... basically bypassing the crossover all together.

I Got Kicker 4.5 Up Front 6x9s In The Rear And A 15 Kicker Sub Powered By A 1000watt Amp. Al In My Little Siverado. I Broke The Latch On The Rear Sliding Window It Was So Loud. My Head Still Hurts Lol. But Kicker Is The Way To Go Definitly. A Buddy Of Mine Had A 10 Kicker In His Jeep And It Sounded Great I Thought It Was Atleast A 12. Ever Since Then I Have Used Kickers
