Simple simple simple, CHECK FueL PRESSURE and filter. and possible water contamination.
Does any one know about the new fuel additives?
Think about it, What do you put in your fuel tank to get rid of water?
Ans - Alchohol based additive.
What is the new fuel every one is so fascinated with?
Ans- E85- Whats this? CORN WHISKEY-ALCHOHOL.

Refineries are adding a 10% to 25% E85 solution to fuel now to help cut back on foriegn oil. What will absorb water and still burn? E85 or Alchohol.

"I never use the Stuff cuase it won't work in my vehicle!" is the most comon answer there is.

Think about this,
Can't afford to fill up your tank, of course who can?
What if the person before You used the pump to dispense E85, there is anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 gallon still between the hose and pump and back to the selection valve under ground, If the pump wasn't shut off and the hose drained.
Now you want regular 87 with a 10% e85 content, Now your E85 ratio is up. Alchohol absorbs water and over time alchohol will break down in gasoline, Whats left? WATER IN YOUR FUEL!
ALCHOHOL WILL BREAK DOWN FUEL LINES NOT DESIGNED FOR ALCHOHOL. THEN YOU HAVE DETERIORATED RUBBER LINES AFTER THE FILTER THAT HAVE SWELLED ALMOST SHUT THUS GIVING ADEQUATE FUEL PRESSURE BUT NOT ADEQUATE FUEL VOLUME. The particles that come from deteriorated rubber lines, after the filter, will eventually make it to you injectors thus clogging them.

This may not help you but it is something to think about.

it takes some time for the computer to relize something is wrong. eather 10 keyed cycles or 50 miles. i had my jimmy back for 3 days before i got a cel. but it was running great so i didnt expect it. just wait it out a little bit if there is something majorly wrong the computer will know and tell you eventually. did you have the truck inspected by your buddy if not i know alot of shops in philly will mess with your stuff jsut to have you come back and they know the problem but still charge you an arm and a leg to fix it. just a thought though

I just got back, spent almost two hours hunting. However, on my way in, the engine light finally came on. And I was right it was a stupid problem, I am almost embarrassed to post it here. I feel like a flippin' idiot!

The code read it was running too lean, so we imediately jumped to mass air flow and throttle position. Even got it running worse at one point! However, no visibale problems there.

However, and here is the kicker.... we went to remove the air intake cover to get to the TPS, and low and behold, the little hose running into the back was not connected! We felt like morons! Simply pressed it into place while it was running and it was like night and day, truck settled into a nice purr.

STUPID VACUUM LINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a fan, can you tell? LOL... anyways, good news is, it was not my fault, and it was no parts required, so no cost! I must be losing my mind, I mean why did I not think of a vacuum hose?

O well. I can rest easy now. And I think it is almost time for my nap anyways...LOL.
Jr. I was just about to tell you to check that little hose I had a dream about it last night it was in color but not in HD im old school.
I'm glad it's running fine now. Be safe! GMC PS-Still add a can of SEAFOAM that stuff is good.

That's why I changed my setting to max (40 posts) per page.
Only gossip threads are too long for a page then.

Glad you got it and it was something simple. My 98 blazer was acting up and ending up being an aftermarket security system a previous owner put in and was conflicting with the oem system...yanked that and added a new battery and runs fine. Again, glad it was simple!!

Yeah pj, that was such a common problem with aftermarket alarms that they made a TSB for it. Needs to be wired in seperately, then it's ok.
