90' burban electrical problem

due to a run in with the law I havent had a drivers licence for the last year and beleive it or not I havent drove any of my 3 vehicles or motorcycle.

about once a month I start the "rides" and let them Idle for about ten mins or so, well when I went to turn off my suburban and disconnect the Batt I shut the door and went to the hood when I noticed the dome light was still on with the door closed?? I played with the "pin switch" in the door jam notihng I checked the headlight switch to see if somehow the courtesy lamps setting was on and it wasnt. I had to end up pulling a fuse to shut the lights off?????
Normally I wouldnt post something like this because there would of been a direct cause related problem but my burban has done nothing but sit the past year no wiring done, no work what so ever has been done except I changed the bench seat to buckets and the only wire is the fasten seatbelt wire.
IDK WTF happened from just sitting has anyone else had a similar problem?

On the assumption you did not turn on a switch on the light itself, pull the door switch. They do age and this is almost 30 years old. If the switch is not internally sticking, the wire may have dropped off, grounding elsewhere. If it's not that door, the same could be true at the others whether you opened them or not. Could also be shorting to ground at light fixture(s).

Nold Dog is on a distinguished road
My sister's '93 Suburban had exactly the same problem. If it sat for 4-5 days the battery was dead. One night she noticed that the courtesy lights were on while it was parked in the driveway. Turned out to be a bad pin switch on the rear lift door.

yea I havent actually pulled the door switch pins out yet but I'm going to do it very soon and see if the is my problem. when I did pull the fuse I still had a parasitic draw I wonder if that was the memory on my stereo or something else?

so yesterday I decided to dig in and see what the problem was and when I put the battery in the dome lights were not on??? I took all of the door pins out and cleaned the contacts with a wire brush then I put dielectric grease and reinstalled and tested them they all and they worked fine, so I went to take the rear Double door pin out and this one was totally different than the others. when I opened the door the lights didn't come on but when I played with the door switch the lights came on, so I knew it was bad.

I haven't replaced it yet just removed it and that cured my problem "stupid little switch"
