never heard of the stuff. I know Krylon makes some paint called Rust Tough that I have used and I have no complaints it is spray paint however, and you didn't say whether or not you were using spray paint or what you intended to paint

Por 15 Rust Paint

My 99 Silverado is getting rusty around the wheel wells and rocker panels.Got a price for paint job(including rear fenders-$3000.00!
Just want some rust cleaned up and paint evened out.
Checked out the Por 15 website-3 tier system.Seems like a lot of work.

Por-15

Excellent stuff, BUT, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. For around the wheel wells you'd get by with far less than a gallon. Their site tells you how it comes. Have used it for years on old restos and it can not be beat.

I painted my snowmachine trailer 4 years ago with POR15. It's holding up great, even with all the road salt they use up here. It is a tough paint! I used Gray color and the places I didn't paint over have faded. I used a brush and small roller to paint the trailer. If you spray you need to use fresh air gear or it will eat up your liver! So I read. One more thing I experienced is it seems like a little bit goes a long way and it does have a shelf life after opening. So buy just what you need.

Por 15

Do l still need the marine clean and metal ready first? Does the rust have to be sanded first?

POR doesnt cure or stop rust, only seals it. I like to remove all the loose rust either by sand blasting, grinding or using a needle gun and stopping the rust with a product like navel jelly, there is also a paint that acts like navel jelly that turns black when it is done working. With a product like POR which seals really good, if you get any moisture behind it it keeps it in there and will rot behind the paint. Best to stop the rust then seal it instead of sealing the rust in.
