1963 chevy truck disc brakes Need Help!

I want to put disc brakes on my 63 chevy 1/2 ton. I have a complete 2WD crossmember and suspension from a 1979 chevy 1/2 ton. I know how to install the complete crossmember assembly with no problem, however, I want to keep my 292 six and manual steering if possible. If I install the 79 crossmember, will my manual steeering hook up to it or will I need to buy new tie rods for a 79 truck with manual steering? I heard that I could swap out the 63 spindles for the 79 ones and replace upper or lower ball joints or both sets? Is this the way to go? Thanks for any help. Dave
