96 Chev 4x4 front end shake!?

My 96 chev K1500 has developed a bad shake when i hit a pot hole. So far it only happens when one tire? hits a pot hole. It starts to shake bad and is hard to get stopped. It has had no problem with wearing tires or does not shake at any certain speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated as i have very limited income to pay an alignment shop to check it out and do work. Thanks in advance!!

Bad tie rod end, or a bad center link, or the famous chevy truck pitman arm,
You arm has a rod end on it that fails more often than it should.
Any steering component is easy to troubleshoot, but requires two people.
One to turn the steering wheel slightly left to right, while the other inspects the steering components for anything that does not move.
Slight wiggle in the steering wheel, should make the wheels wiggle. If they do not, you can see where the components stop moving.
The bad component will be very obvious to see. You can also try to move, or twist the steering components by hand. weak, or problem items will be easy to move, and they will offer little resistance.
Any loose component should be replaced.

75k30 is correct you have to check the steering components for wear as well as the ball joints. If unsure of how to do this ask a competant mechanic.Sounds like the steering dampner is bad,if it shows singhns of leakage ,replace it.It doesnt have to be leaking to be bad though
