How much can I tow

I have an 89 4X4 1500 extended cab long bed. it has a towing package and the engine is quite strong. Supposed to have a 305 but the privious owner said he had a new motor installed and is not sure exactly what it is. I think it may be a 350 because it pulls quite strong and i am currently running 33in tires on this heavy truck. Anyway I think I should be able to pull 7000 pounds or so but wanted to check with everybody before I hook it up.

Thanks,

you need to consider more things such as gear ratios, suspention rating, check the gvwr, type of hitch, etc good luck

i just towed a heavy beast of a skid steer loader to the gas station today, still trying to find it's weight info.
by time i had everything hooked up, i had 2'' between the bump stop and spring. when i tried to stop, the tongue weight finished up that gap and was pushing my truck due to the drum brakes in the rear.

unless you have trailer brakes, i wouldn't tow over 5k pounds.

found the weight info: the machine weighs 6k pounds! and thats not including the trailer.
