| Differential gear ratios Hey fellow truckaholics,I just purchased a 65 fleetside 3/4 ton in really nice shape, was a Cailf truck. Only does 55mph wide open, has a 4 on the floor. What rearend gear ratio would be the best for 65mph?Can there be a gear swap or does the whole diff have to be changed? It has those realllllllly long swing arms. Maybe torch the unit out and put a leaf spring setup under it? Any help or advice sure would be welcome, thanks |

| yeah you can swap the gears only. the rear gear really depends on what the final gear is in the tranny too. If it is 1:1 then a 3.73 gear would be a good gear for the rearend. Won't lose anything on takeoff and still decent for cruising.
