Extended Wheel Studs I'm looking for wheel studs for an '87 Chevy Heavy Duty P/U that are 1/2 inch longer than stock and have had no luck. Any ideas?

Welcome to the site: You are looking for longer studs because you changed the wheels to aluminum wheels, and you believe you have studs that are too short????? I am asking this as a question because many have thought that longer studs are necessary, when in reality, longer lug nuts are required. Unless you are racing the vehicle, and longer studs are required, I believe that you may find the solution to your problem with the correct lug nuts.

| ether use longer lug nuts or open lug nuts to solve your problem. looking for longer studs i don't think that will happen unless you know what truck has them longer than yours to get them from a parts store.

They are actually for a friend of mine who got different wheels and needs spacers for clearance of the tie rod ends. The longer studs are necessary because of the spacers. He doesn't use the truck hard, he has a bunch of vehicles, and only puts these wheels on in the summer. I looked at JEGS and they didn't have anything the right size. It seems longer studs for trucks don't exist or are well hidden.

This friend of yours is going to run a "sandwich" style spacer???? How thick is this? Question for you. What will happen to the long studs when the spacers and the first set of wheels are re-installed? Perhaps the studs will be too long, and the lug nut will never tighten down. Spacers are a terrible idea in any case. Many problems surface with the use of them. Ackerman angles change, Scrub radius changes, bearing loads increase, hub-centric spacers are usually required, and often overlooked, any mis-alignment issues are multiplied. We can kind of go on and on, but I tink you are getting the idea.
