1996 K1500 plug fouling

5.7L
4l60e auto
just replaced head gaskets

My #5 cylinder keeps fouling (fuel). I'll put a known good plug in and it will run great for about 5-10 minutes, then you start hearing the miss, engine starts shaking and if it's in gear, it will want to die. The plug wires are good and I am going to replace the cap and rotor, but I have been told that the fuel pressure reg. under the upper intake is prone to leaking. Is this true and how can I tell if this is the problem?

when you pulled the intake you could have damaged the injector for the number five cyllinder. this would cause fuel to pour into the cyllinder and fould the plug

Does the regulator hold the fuel pressure behind it or does the injector? In other words, if the injector holds the pressure and I read a drop in pressure, I will just know there is a leak and not which one (injector, line or regulator) is causing it.

Guys, it was the fuel pressure regulator. It sits just above the #5 intake port and when I removed it, the filter screen was totally clogged and I'm figuring this is what caused it to leak.
