Dies when driving - help please!! When driving down the road, (2000 silv. 5.3) shuts down and then idles roughly at about 200 rpm and within a few seconds dies. Pushing the gas doesnt change it any. It will always restart after about 30 seconds. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Brandon

| You say "shuts down then idles roughly" can you explain that better, does it completely shut off, or just act like you let off the gas. I am wondering if it is the fuel pump or a fuel relay..

It is not showing any codes. When driving down the road, the engine shuts down like turning off the key. If i pull right over and put it in neutral, it chugs for a few seconds and then shuts off completely. If it does it when i am at a light, it starts to slowly lose fuel (rough idle) and then goes into the same as above. It is completely random, however when the temp gets to 80, it does it more often on my drive home. up to 5 times so far on a 20 min drive thanks for all of your help Brandon

yeah, only after it gets warm. But it doesnt have to be full operating temp. Another thing that makes this hard to diagnose, is, it only happens on the way home from work about 5pm. it has never died on the way, 8am

Did you replace the fuel relay switch? If so, did it fix the problem? I ask because I have an '88 GMC Sierra 1500 and have been having the same problems. They just put a new ECM in and is still doing the same. Mine does it when it's hot or cold. It doesn't seem to matter much. Thanks. Greg
