| 1998 chevy 1500 weird startup problem...fuel? Hey all, i have a 1998 Chevy silverado that has just recently started to have a minor weird problem. it has only happened twice to me and the event was 2 months apart however it is extremely annoying. today i drove the truck to work and everything was perfect, worked 8 hours, came out to start it and it turned on fine for about 2 seconds and then cut off. tried again and it did the same. it repeated this about 15 times until i had someone pick me up and i left it. I then went back tonight about 4 hours later and while waiting for the tow truck decided to try and start it. it started on the first try. i don't think it can be the injectors, fuel pump, or fuel filter, and it is not out of gas. any ideas? any help on what it could be or what i should do would be greatly appreciated. I cant afford to randomly get stuck places. thanks |

| i do not have a security system in the truck however the factory installed system has been flickering on and off randomly, i didn't think that it could affect the trucks starting. the weather is a no factor - hot first time - cold the 2nd. I will have to look into the security thing. the ignition key is a little worn but not bad at all. it is weird - the truck fires but then just wont keep going, seems like an electronic fuel problem, like the computer wont give it more gas. |
