| 454 bad timing? I have a 73 gmc with a 454 that has a problem. I have changed the driver side head and when I had a spark problem right before I went overseas I could not fix it before I left. It has been 9 months and today I got the spark problem fixed but once gas finally got to the engine it made a terrible grinding noise as it tried to fire up. I tried again and dark black smoke came out of the carb as the engine made a light grinding noise again. So dose anyone have any valve rocker torqueing trickes... for this one the book seems like it may not be working! |

| Grinding??? I can recommend how to torque the rockers, but grinding is not a noise associated with changing a head. You have another problem friend
