4x4 steering vibration problem

I have an 1998 chev 4x4 with a steering vibration problem which shows up more noticably when pulling a load. I noticed this problem after pulling some
tree stumps in the backyard. I think this has caused the problem. Maybe something is bent out of shape.
Under normal driving conditions there is no probems. I've just put on 4 new tires and had them balanced. that should take the tires out of the picture.
I also had an front end alignment done, and that doesn't help either.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to the site;
This sounds like a balance problem, and since you are confident that the tires are not the problem, (alignment is alright, though this will not cause a vibration) then something else that rotates has got to have some trouble, and the first thing that comes to mind is the driveshaft.
Verify that the u-joints are still good, and all of the associated components.
Once you eliminate u-joints, then you can look to see if the shaft itself has any damage. Dents, or twists can, and will cause terrible vibrations.

In 1996 gm Claims to have introduced Speed sensitive power steering, I don't know how this works nor have I ever seen this.
