are you changing it for fuel economy? or is the gear set bad? i have a 454, with 373s and at 62mph(100km/h) it revs about 1850-1900 with 265s(tires), didn`t know you could get 355s

I believe the 14B's are available in 3.21 and 3.42, then 3.73, with a carrier break at 4.10 / 4.56:1 This means that going from 4.10 to a 3,42 is not going to require a different carrier, so you are cool there. (I do not believe they offer a thinck cut gear, or custom gear to use alternate series carriers). They are fairly cheap to find though
Anyway, if mileage is what you are after, with a 454, you might just be spending money without a reward.
It would take so long to recieve a return on your investment that it probably would not justify the cost. I mean by spending money to gain some savings at the pump, you might see a small increase in mileage, provided that you spend a majority of the time on the highway, and not on the road. You would have to drive several years to offset the cost in gas savings alone. The small change will not magically gain you mileage. Maybe 1 to 2 mpg on average.
At 2 mpg, you can determine how many miles a year you use this vehicle for, and decide how many miles it would take to gain a return on your investment.
Not sure I see it being a great choice.
Take that money and buy a little truck with a 4 cylinder, or motorcycle, and your investment will return in the form of gas savngs at a much faster rate.
