| 73' fuel problems!!HELP! For some reason which i cannot figure out, i cant get my truck to run off of the fuel tanks. Both tanks are full. When i run the pump rite out of a gas can it works perfectly. Both the tanks are hooked up to an aftermarket fuel tank selector valve. It is hooked up correctly as far as I know. It clicks when I hit the switch in the cab. I am also having problems with the fuel gauge not working. I have the stock wiring harness for the solenoid. It plugs in under the dash and then from there back a wire plugs onto each tank sending unit and another wire goes to the solenoid. Someone please help! Thank you! | try hooking one tank direct to eliminate the tank valve. sound like the valve is allowing air. |

| here's a little trick I just had to use on a 72' burban I resurrected that did the same thing but only one tank. the rubber lines from the tank to the metal lines were rotted and had allowed air as someone above mentioned. what I did was take my compressor and run air thru fuel supply line that in your case runs back to either tank when selected via the valve and if it is leaking you can hear the air hissing out and trace the problem that way. I bet your rubber lines are dry rotted also it's a cheap fix if that is your problem

| Ditto to cracked lines. I'm thinking it is letting in air somewhere too

| I will check into that. Yesterday I by passed the solenoid and hooked directly to right side tank. Truck fired right up. That solenoid is brand new though. Any ideas? thanks. |

| Just for kicks try hooking the left side , if no problems, the the lines should be good. then you need to recheck you connections at the selenoid cause that would be where your problems are |

| Ok. So I know both tanks work fine when bypassing the fuel tank selector valve. I am still having problems with my fuel gauge not reading as well. any other suggestions? |
