you need a multimeter. the signal wire and the ground and connect the to the multimeter. then just check the readings as you move the lever up and down on the sending unit. if they change from top to bottom in a like pattern then your good. sorry if this sounds a little amatureish i just cant figure out how to put it

yes and no depending on the type you get. if it is one that is compatible with you oem sending unit then your good. however you will have to have a pod setup somewhere in your truck. i think it may be easier just to go tto the junkyard and find a good guage cluster

well when we got the truck the gas gauge was at the level point on the gauge like straight accross and i tried to get it to work in the harness above the tank there was a wire cut off so i tied another wire to it and found a wire that was bolted to the frame and cleand a little area and held it on the tank and nothin happend and when i touched the two together the gauge went clear past empty and barried its self but i didn't take the sending unit out of the tank i will do that tonight would the circut board behind the clust have anything to do with it cuz my heat gauge don't realy work all that well. my buddy went and got the three gauge setup from sunpro like 28 bucks and put those in his i think i'm gonna do the same
