Lightbulb Painting a Chrome Tool Box?

I'm not a big fan of chrome, so I was wanting to paint my toolbox and bed caps. Having it done (powder coated) is not an option. Is there a certain spray paint that will work, and last? Someone mentioned motor paint, but I thought I would ask around and get opinions. Thanks in advance...

any automotive paint with a clear coat will last you a long time. just got to make sure you remove all the chrome finish first.

Is it really chrome? I have one, and I mean one chrome tool box, and I had to have it chromed. It sits on the front of my boat trailer.
I have never ever seen a production chrome tool box. Crazy expensive to have one chromed by the way.
At any rate, if this is a chrone finish, it will have to be removed, or the paint will flake, and peel off. Chrome is a very hard and slippery surface. Most paints do not adhere well.
If this is a polished aluminum box, then the options are wide open, as long as the surface is prepared, and scuffed well.
Just about any quality paint will last for years.

I had one painted the same color of my truck once it came out good it was on a B-2200 I had some time back in fact I even had a light in it when I would open it I also placed the other driving light under the tool box so that at night I had light back there. Now im thinking of having a Craftman tool box painted with bed liner stuff the good type of bed liner it's a 10 drawer tool box my brother has a buddy that his shop does that type of work the reason is that I bought the tool box used and I wanted it to match my roller box that's black maybe have your truck box done like this.

I would go with the bed liner material if you actually use your toolbox...it's easier to take care of and you never have to worry about scratchin any paint.

chrome is nice to a certian point, then it's just makes your truck look like a mall crawler.

it's like deaking your engine out with every thing edelbrock has in their warehouse.
sometimes less is better.

To much chrome looks ugly. I had a truck just like muds I placed black mirrors on it because it looked better to me it was also a SL model the only chrome was some wheels and I miss that rubber floor mat.
