| HVAC is not my thing....... Yet another problem with the Blazer. When they installed motor number five.... I was there for the fine tuning, and though I have had to make several adjustments and repairs since, I was happy with the A/C system. They recharged it and it worked better then it ever had. Now all of a sudden today, I am only getting hot air out of it.... I played with it a bit and found that set on reg a/c it blows cool, but not cold but on max a/c it is still hot. The condenser and canister under the hood also has an unusual amount of condensation on it. And when I did turn it on, there was NO power draw off the motor like normal.... Where is the first place I need to look? The compressor??? The freeon charge??? the switch??? I checked the fuse for kicks and it is fine. Any help guys?

| if the canister has condensation on it and the clutch is not running then best guess is that side of the system is working, sounds more like the servo for the flapper valve in the dash, (since it works on normal) turn it on after it has sat for a while and see if the clutch kicks in then shuts down after the condensation starts........ |

| if the clutch kicks on and off then your a/c needs to be charged up again. when you have your a/c on the clutch should be turning the hole time you have the a/c on. i would check the to see if you still have r134a in it. you might have a leak

| I do not have any of the tools to I think I would need to really dig into this system.... Is there any way I can test the freeon to see if that is the problem? I mean like a poor man's test or something? And what about the compressor and stuff... How can I test these? I called an A/C shop and they want like 75 bucks just to test it, forget if it needs anything and I really do not have the time for them to have it for the whole day either....

| my AC works great in my truck! the low setting requires one crank, the medium setting is two more cranks, then with two more cranks your at full blast. never messed with AC so i'm no help, in case you hadn't figured that out from the first part of my post.

| you could check it by looking for the light blue cap(low pressure side) it is like an air valve. just take a pick and push on it it should spray a little r134 but not enough to do much. if you dont get anything then you need a recharge. they sell stuff you can put in it and it will turn a different color where the leak is. i dont know what it is called but i have heard of it from working in a body shop |

| OK correct me if I misunderstood! the air works fine if set on normal? then when you switch to max it stops. max is usually a recyle interior air setting(flapper) or a seperate button to recycle. if the fan is not drawing enough cold off the exchanger the compressor will cycle. so if you keep it on normal does it cintinue to cool? If you want an inexpensive set of guages @35.00 at harbour freight work good |

Good to know about harbor frieght, I always forget about that place... And it is not exactly as you are thinking. On reg a/c it does not blow COLD just cooler then all the other settings. I still cannot drive with the windows up. However, when I switch it to max, it gets hotter then if I was running heat. I looked for this blue cap you claim is there and no luck.... I think mine is black...LOL... It definitely has a charge..... My concern now is the compressor. Whenever I have turned the unit on in the past the motor would bogg and I would KNOW it turned on.... Now it could be on or off, and there is no reaction out of the power being drawn from the engine. So I guess this would lead me to think that the problem is bigger? I swear if those idiots who put this ting in did not tighten something I am gonna flip! But I am NOT bringing it back to them and thats for sure....LOL

| ok then it sounds like low freon.......depending how long it takes to leak out there are a few options. Slow leak say a month or so i've have good luck with ac sealer, fast leak need to find it and fix it. Do you know someone with guages buy a can of 134 and put it in, or a kit with a hose. If you need to get the compressor going to put the freon in take the hi pressure plug off the dryer ( silver can on the firewall) jump it and the clutch should kick in. make sure the freon is hooked and turned on before jumping. once there is enough freon in the system it should run with the switch plugged in. |
