| have you retrieved the codes with a scan tool or code reader? it'd just be a guessing game to why the light is on without knowing the code. ps: welcome to the forum

| As already said above, use an ODBll code reader to retrieve the code. Sounds like you have an intermittant code, but your ECM with retain the code. Autozone will read the code for you, but they will not reset it. If you buy the parts from them that will likley fix the code, you can usually negotiate with them, and then they will reset it for you if you are nice. You can usually find Actron OBD ll code scanners on sale for about $100 sometimes less, and that will allow to read and reset your own codes. |

| How deep was the water? What was the circumstances? Regardless of what the code is, (not disagreeing with the others here, you should definitely have it read....) if running through water turned it off, you may have larger problem at hand. Sounds like you got the battery, or the fuse box wet, and the system had to reset the monitors.... usually takes about 35-50 miles to reset them. If this is the case, there are a few things you need to do. First, you need to take the cover off the fuse panel and make sure there is no water left behind. Check the fuses all individually. You do not need them corroding on you.... Second, make sure the connections on the battery, and the grounds are still clean. Then finally, You need to get the oil changed right away. Depending on the depth of the water you ran through, if it was enough to get your batt or fuse box wet, then you mave have pulled some water in through your intake. In which case, since water an oil do not mix, then you may have larger mechanical problems down the road. I ignored this once in a car and ended up losing the motor. It is not something to overlook. i could be off here on the damage with out seeing it, but these little subtlties are no joke. Autozone will read the ECU codes for free, and this is also nescesary, so do not forget that either.
