as a last resort, do as junior said and snip, snip
I think you're right about those plastic tabs and I don't want to risk pulling on it. I already thought about splicing but the wire colors don't match. The OEM has 2 white and 1 black if I remember right and the Bosch one has 3 different color wires. Has anyone done this type before? I'm going to do some research and see what I can find.

Thanks again, Guys!
Jess

Most gm o2's have about 8-10 in of wire attached are you sure you are looking at the right connection point? Smaller hands in some instances are the solution to hard to reach locations. They do make special sockets for sensor replacement, there is a cut down the side for the wires and make replacement much easier.

You are right, there is about that much length coming from the sensor but I can't get to the connector that is above the transmission.

have you tried to reach it by going through the wheel well. sometimes you can reach things like the starter and such by removing the wheel and lifting the rubber flap out of the way.

Best I remember I just wormed my hand up by the firewall and disconnected it. The wire should be long enough. Pull the slack out of it. Sorry for the delay in answering...You prob got it fixed by now I assume.

I will try the suggestions you made. I'll let you know.
Thanks for the tip.

Hey I think I may have figured out what is going on.

On a 5.7L the O2 is supposed to be on the driver side where you initially looked. On a 4.3L it is where yours is now. I bet my farm someone has Afro-Engineered the one you are replacing by installing a jumper wires so you may have to do the same thing. I may be wrong but thats the only thing I can think of to why you are having so much trouble.

I owned a 1994 4.3L and replaced the 3-wire O2 on the passenger side with relative little ease. I now own a 1995 5.7L and relaced the single wire O2 on the driver side also with relative ease.

Hope this helps!
