Violent Shaking

so the other day i was driving my truck, and as i started accelerating to highway speeds the ride starting getting a little rough. then it got worse, and worse and worse until i was literally bouncing down the highway and i almost wrecked and had to pull over and crawl the rest of the way to where i was going. now just that morning i drove my truck at highway speeds and it was perfectly fine. so it is almost as if something instantly happened. i drove cautiously on the way home aware of the fact of what might happen....and sure enough it did. just as bad as last time. really scary, my truck was shaking and bouncing like a rag doll. so i pulled over, and resumed going slowly. the truck drives fine as long as im going slowly, but then starts shaking terribly at higher speeds. im sorry i cant tell you exactly what speed it starts to do this at, because my speedo doesnt work. the only thing i can think to look for would be checking my lugs, and my front end does seem to be sitting a little low. i somewhat recently lowered by front end via torsion bars to fix a leaning wheel problem, but it drove fine. could it have slowly seeped down even lower until that little rubber bumper type dealy is hitting the lower control arm? would that make my truck do this? any help is GREATLY appreciated... i need my truck back!

Did you realighn the front end when you played with the torsion bars? First I would check the tires when it happens, the symptoms sound like a tread seperation buldge when the tire warms, Then take it to a good alignment shop and have the front end checked and properly set up. They may also find the reason for the tire leaning.

i had a jeep that did the same thing it would start at 35mph until 45mph and would be fine unless i was inbetween those speeds. so i took it to moms friends shop and the had to tighten the steering box up. and problem was fixed. just a guess that might help you out

yeah i would take it to an allignment shop. usually if it is shaking at a certain speed it is out of wack. if it was shaking all the time it ould be an out of balance tire. but just to check make sure all your wheel weights are there. if you see one missing it may be your problem and an easy fix. with those rims you should be running the stick on weights that are on the back of the rim in the center right? they are notorious for flying off. just a thought though. dont quote me on it..

i really hope it's not the tires... that'd be a little pricey. i raised the front end back up a bit to get more clearance... the wheels lean in now a bit but i'll have to put up with it. i've taken it in to be aligned before but they said the frame was bent and couldnt pull out the upper control arm to fix one side's lean so it was better to leave them both leaning. so that's where it's at again. i looked for missing weights on my wheels and they are both missing a weight... BUT by the amount of caked on dirt it's clear that theyve been gone for a long time, so that cant be it. like i said i raised it up a bit and will be driving it to work tomorrow... we'll see what happens
