| to cut out that rust see where you have it sanded down that is how far you need to go out to make sure you got all the rust removed that hole corner. do you have anyone around that has done this work before so you can ask them questions while you are doing it for the first time. or have the extra money for a hood just incase.

| i had my friends lined out the door to help me on my truck but when it came down to start doin the work couldn't find a sole especially when i needed a mig for my rocker panels and cab corners so i did it my selfwith my arc weldewr i had to by small rods for the gauge of metal i was using i managed its not rocket science. when u cut urs out try to get it out like a shape rectangle or sqaure so it easier to make a new piece and use a angle magnet to get the top started tack that and then once you get a few tacks on the top just work down each side evenly until u get to the bottom then grind it down smoth a little puddy and snding primer and paint |

| I found this body work actually really fun! Thanks to everyone who gave me their opinions and knowledge on this project. New Hood $659.00 YEAH RIGHT! Fixing it myself 4 hours and $15.00. Chevy Truck Forum priceless!

I find that working with sheet metal and welding thin metal and getting it too look like new is really fun. I love doing it. and cant wait for my future projects. because i know they all have rust

| I love my mig! I bought a htp america 200 amp rig (i think it is made in hungary or rumania) but it has a copper transformer and for 10 years it has worked flawlessly! I even make tools with it ( it would take longer to drive to the store to make that odd distrubutor wrench.) Use .023" wire when working on sheet metal. I have bought full sheets of 18ga but have found volvo steel (I have a roof off a station wagon) to be the best (it is soft and easy to form) |
