| OK, my boys have been having a hay day dis-assembling our 55 chev 3800. We are planning to pull the cab next week, but I need to know a couple of thigs first. One, do I need to support the cab at any spot to keep from it twisting out of shape. Everything looks secure enough, but that does not mean I could be over looking something. I am going to use the rafters in my shop for the lift, with a harness and a couple chain falls. Second, should I remove the glass, fenders and doors first, or use them as to keep the stiffness needed for removing the cab? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!! |

| I know when my dad and i removed the cab off my 51 it was completley stripped, and four of us lifted it off and set it on some saw horses, those are pretty solid trucks though, if you have four slings you could probly atach them to the four courners of the roof and lift, no gaurantees but shouldn`t be to stressfull i think...

| i would remove the doors that would take off right at 75 lbs. and you won't have to worryabout them because it will twist a little and you don't want the doors to put the cab in a bind when lifting it. and i would do the fenders as well. just think you have less than a 1/4 inch gap and when lifting will close up somewhere.

| I'd pull everything off the cab while it is on the frame and reinstall after it is back on the frame. I would also recommend an inventory control procedure that a child could understand on first seeing it. |

| Good Ideas Thank you all. I will set up an inventory sheet for my boys to use while taking it apart. I will completely dis-assemble the cab before removing. As I go along I will post pictures for all to join in my missery. LOL ![]() |
