Lift

Hey, I'm not sure if this is the right place to be putting this or not. If not someone can move it.

But any way, I have a '99 chevy s10, it's a 3 door extended cab, 4wd, um... not sure if you need to know anything else. But I was wondering how much it would cost to put a lift on it. I don't want a small lift that you can hardly tell by looking at but I don't want a monster truck either. I would like to be rolling down the road and have people look at it because of there's a good size lift on it. (I don't really care if people look and point at it i was just trying to give an example of the size.

I tried looking up information myself but nothing seemed to be with what I was looking for. From what i've seen on google I am thinking of a 3" suspension lift and then get some tires in the high 20" to low 30" range but i don't know how much of a increase in height that would be. If it's possible could someone show me a lift that is about in that range so I could see the size change? Also if someone could give me a price range on this that would be awesome. And I know prices would very depending on the brand of stuff and where I get it done at but just a ball park would be good so I can see what i'm in for.

Like I said I don't know if you would need anymore information to know anything or not but if you do I will be happy to tell you. Thanks in advance.

okay first off. I have done extensive research on this subject. So a few things. One, there is no 3" lift kit. There is a 2" suspension lift located at www.roughcountry.com. You can also get a 2" bodylift from www.performanceaccessories.com so together, you will get 4" of lift.

Now both kits combined, you will be able to fit 32" tires.... but most people use 31's.... Now if you have the Zr2 option pakage then you will be able to fit 33" tires easy...

Both of these kits are easy to install and realtively painless. But to get any more, you will need to consider an IFS drop kit, and a rear axle flip. Trailmaster, Superlift and BDS are the kings of these kits for these trucks. www.bds.com is the best, best warranty and 100% bolt on deal, but will require TIME and tools.....

Here is an example of a ext. cab S10 with the lift I am talking about... will this look work for ya?

Thanks for the help. And I thought I saw a truck on a website that said they had a 3" susp. lift but I don't know. Also thanks for the pic. That is what i'm looking for. Can obviously tell it's raised yet it's not monster truck high.

I went to the roughcountry.com and found the s10 2" susp. lift. But on the performance.com website I couldn't find any s10 2" body lifts.

Is there a spacific reason why most people get the 31" tires instead of 32"? And mine's not a ZR2 so that rules out the 33".

So far I got this with prices.

2" suspension lift - $429.95
2" body lift - ?
Wheels & Tires - ?

If you could help me any further it would be great. I'm not really good when it comes to this stuff and I don't know where to look. For the wheels and tires I know prices really range with them but just a ball park would be good so I know what i'm looking at. I want to figure out the price's so bad because I'm just really anxious to get the lift's and all as soon as I can. And to know roughly the price I would be able to see how many pay checks I need to make the overhaul.

Again, thanks so much for the help you givin me already.

Sorry, try this...

Performance Accessories Body Lift Kits

Rough Country offers the 2" body lift too, but several people I know have complained that the kit was incomplete, so PA is the better choice. 260.00

Most like the look, therefore 31's... give enough to look good without too much hassel. Other want bigger fro ground clerance and without breaking open the sawzall.....

As for wheels and tires? Okay, wheels first. I would chose 15x8 rims... wide enough to look mean, but not wide enough to have to sut fenders.... Go here for ALL the rims that fit your truck. For the record, your bolt pattern is 5 on 4.75 so rims are scarce... there are like 12 pages though, but lots of repeats. I would go crazy recommending styles, but it is your call, for your taste, so check them out...

Okay, tires... I assume you just want some classic all-terrains and this is not going to be a trail rig? If so, I would go with these. Very popular, great life, great traction and look awesome....

All in all this is what I estimate...

2" SUS lift~460.00
2" PA BL~260.00
4 Rims ~450+/-
4 tires ~540+/- depending on where you get them...

So basically about 1700 bucks for the parts. If you have the time and abition and can install the lifts yourself... then there it is, however, I have priced labor too. The body lift is 12hours... equaled for me 900 bucks and the suspension lift should take about an hour, maybe two, so about 200 bucks there. these are here, your shops may have different rates.... NOTE: some shops will ONLY install what they sell, so be careful, you might have to find a mom and pops type garage willing to help you out.

I hope this answers your questions, please feel free to ask more if I left something out. Good luck, and for me, post up before and after pics when you do it, I would LOVE to see this little project of yours!

Thanks so much for the help man. This is exactly the stuff i was looking for. I found some websites when I first started searching and all they did was confuse me more. These websites are easy and right to the point. And thanks for the prices. I still have awhile until I'm going to be able to start this. I have only about 600 saved up for it right now. And most likely i'm going to have to take it to a shop to get the lifts done so ill have to save up more for that. And $900 for 12 hour body lift wow. Thats $75 an hour.

It won't be for awhile but after I get the lift's done i'm planning on fixing up the motor some to get more power and basically make it as loud as I can. But like I said that's not going to be for a awhile unless I win the lottery. lol. But this is my first vehicle and I plan on never getting rid of it unless I wreck it and can't fix it up. (that would suck). So I really don't care how much money I put into it since i'm going to be keeping it. It will probably end up being a never ending project.

I will for sure get some before/after pic's up. I will post a pic of the before here in a little if I can get a pic of it.

Thanks again, you have helped out a lot.

Here it is. Sorry for the glare in the second one and that they are small I don't know how to enlarge them.

well if you are planing to draw some more power from the motor, here are a few suggestions. Now I am assuming here you have the vortec 4.3l as I myself do too...

First off, that motor is quite strong by itself, plenty of tourque... good design in my opinion, not sure why GM dropped it. But here is what I am doing and it is not as expensive as you may think... These will not give you HUGE hp gain, but noticable enough to fit I think. good sound and in most cases, even better gas mileage.

Airaid Throttle boddy spacer
Volant Air intake

And of course an exhaust system. Now I am personally still hunting for the right one as a kit and think it does not exist... so I do not have a link. But on that website for the others, they have performance exhausts if you like them. I am after duals myself, and either by Flowmaster of by Gibson. I have found for complete install, with parts on my truck at the local exhaust shops is right around 300 bucks, so no biggie there either....

Now as for the labor figures.... I know it seems high, but if a shop does the BL they will be anel about it because of it being so different from stock. You may want to shop and see what you can find. I have read the instructions over and over for the 2" suspension lift, and really that seems easy enough for two guys, a case of beer and a saturday afternoon. But again, your call there....

Now as for other accessories like fender flares, sunvisors, nerf bars, roll bars, lights etc.... I have searched my little heart out for the last two years and have saved all the best ones. Pics and locations. So do not hesitate to ask me if there is something else you are looking for. That is why i am here! LOL...

I am glad I could help and wish you the best of luck.

Use photobucket.com and when you load the pics in, there is a drop down menu right under the loader to resize the image, change that to full screen for 17" monitor... and your pics will be larger when you host them here.

Thanks for tips on the motor. I will deffiniatly keep those in mind but I'm going to get the lift's done first.

And i'm only 16 so i'm limited on being able to put the lift on by myself. I really wouldn't know what to do but I guess in order to learn you have to try it yourself.

I will upload the pics to photobucket later tonight because i need to make an account and i'm getting ready to leave so I don't have time.

Also, do you know what size the stock tires would be on my s10?
