| Just thought I'd follow up on the truck battery draining. The truck sat for about the same amount of time as last time and I went to start it today. I put the key into the ignition and it started. No problem at all. Amazing that the glove box light was the problem all along. Thanks again guys. Your the best! |

| Dead Battery Problem Solved!!!! Hey I am back and I would like to give you all THANKS, for the advice on my dead battery issue.I found out the battery was good the starter was also good "BUT" although the alternater was charging when I unhooked the battery.I thought it kept the truck running it must be ok...WRONG...I finally took the Alternater to get checked and the positive diode was bad,and they have pos and neg diodes. The positive diode puts a constant drain on the battery when it goes bad,so DEAD GOES THE BATTERY.Took it to repair shop it cost $15.00 and it works like new...PROBLEM SOLVED.Thanks again to all and take care. 1982gmc is outta here |

| An easy and inexpensive way to check your battery and for a short circuit drain is simply to unhook your battery the next time you know your truck is not going to be used for an extended period of time ...say 2 weeks. If after that time period you hook your battery back up......if its starts your battery is most likely good and you have a short somewhere that is draining it. If after that time period you hook your battery back up and it does not start then you knw its simply the battery has gone bad. If its a short and hard to find.....leave your battery unhooked while your truck is not in use and it will always be ready after hooking it back up. I had to do this with a former vehicle one time in the past....never did find that battery drain. Good Luck!
