94 3500 diesel manual with chevron tow wont shift got stuck on Rear Hello Im new to Chevy truck, got this 94 3500 diesel 286.000 miles ( it was parked for 1 and half year ) and drove for about 4 miles than could not shift anymore, rear brakes were stuck than after a quick stop could not drive. One agravating thing: there was a broken axle to the hydraulic pump that drives the moving parts of the tow and it spinned loose hitting some hoses. Does anybody have a clue what might be going on? When pressing the clutch pedal the feel is normal but the shift cannot be changeg to any other including neutral. Does it only works in hydraulic mode? Where the transmission oil level is located? Thanks

It sounds like a hydraulic clutch leak. Check the fluid level in the master cylinder resivoir and for signs of leaks (master, line, slave) Will it shift, engine off, no clutch? The gearbox oil fill is likely (I don't know this but it is likely) two plugs on the gearbox. To change the gearbox oil, remove the fill plug first. If you can't get the fill plug off then do not remove the drain plug. Look in the owner's manual or for a sticker that will indicate the propper oil for the gear box. For the clutch DOT 3 brake fluid is actually better than DOT 4 but either will work.

Are you sure you were not in four wheel drive. If you were you may have to lift one wheel to get it to free.

changing the clutch Removing the cardan released the gearbox, now is shifting. After removing the hydraulic slave and inspecting lines , it shows it is working. Does anybody knows where can I get instructions step by step with pictures in how to remove the transmission to change the clutch ( inside)? Thanks a lot
