if the old exhaust has a factory flared end there is no need to cut at all. just heat the pipe with an old mapp gas torch (20-30 bucks at homie de pot or lowes) and slip the old one out and the new one right in if not cut it and go to napa and get the dual smokestack style clamps (like on semi) they normally stock multiple diameters and are designed to join 2 seperate pipes

flat band clamps i believe is what they are referred to as. they are lovely. i tend to lean towards the flowmasters as well. some people like borla and gibson. i think they are all great manufacturers but something about flowmasters sets them apart for the others.

A buddy of mine had the same truck and he put a $30 glass pack on it and it sounded great. It wasn't real loud when normal driving but when you got into it, it was pretty nice. He ran one glass pack then a Y-pipe and went out both sides.

Stay away from shorty headers especially if your in a long bed or really flex your truck the pair I had on my 75 k10 longbed were a pain got them new for free & got what I paid for. No matter how I braced the exhaust I continually was welding cracks after a day in the rocks. I ended up tossing them once I started blowin gaskets. and made my own. Save some money and have some fun go spend 200 on a flux core welder, watch the video and weld up your own. then sell 3 pairs to your buddies and all your equipment will be paid for by them using a flux core is really easy and having one will make you alot of friends and money

IMO I would stay away from the cheaper mufflers..... yeah, cherry bombs sound good for a while, but they rust out fast, and once they blow out, you get the crackle...... I hate that...... I run a flowmaster on my 95 gmc, a gibson on my 85 ford, and I have Magnaflow glass packs on my 78 ford... the packs are life time warranted, so the packing stays in and your less likely to get the crackle. unlessyour into that..... but to each his own.... if you do a search on youtube for exhausts, you'll get a bunch of videos showing the latest and greatest..

Yea. I have a 1990 Scotssdale with a 350 TBI and I have a Flowmaster Super 40 on it now. It sounds pretty decent and wasn't expensive at all and easy to do.
