What is a good Aftermarket exhaust

I'm looking into doing a complete exhaust from the headers back. i am looking for some feedback on components. what manufatureres have good fit and easy install? right now i'm looking to put on the edelbrock shorty headers, magnaflow direct-fit catalytic converters, magnaflow or gibson cat back exhaust. any info would be appreciated.
The truck is a 1999 silverado 1500.

I also think my CV joints are no good, doesn't turn very well when 4X4 is engaged. Are they hard to replace or am i better off taking it to a shop?

Thanks

a buddy had the gibson cat back exhaust. the one that went out the side. he had the same truck and if your looking for something pretty then that is it. it sounded great to. but anytime you change from factory to aftermarket there are gonna be some fitment issues so you may have to cut and massage some things.

the cv are just like changing a car axle. you have to pop the lower or upper ball joints and then just slid them out. they kind of lock in place so it is tough to get them out and then back in but as long as it pops into place your set

Cutting i can handle, lack of a welder is what i am worried about. i can get my hands on one, so i should probably do that before i start hacking away.

any other tips or suggestions.

shorty headers are a waste, you`ll get 1/3 or less performance than full length... but yeah they ARE way cheaper, you pay for what you get...

converters might be a bit of a waste too hate to say, money wise, unless you`ve done head work etc.etc. factory units actually flow quite well for stock engines

just my $.02...........(:

thanks for the tip on the shorty headers, will replace with the stock ones i can get them for less than a hundy each. the only reason i'm replacing the catalytic converts is cause they are junk now, all the guts from them are in my muffler and i have snapped it off just below the flange on the header. i can here the **** rattling around in it. i would get the stock ones but the chevy dealer gouges the prices here in AK and i can't find any other alternatives other than the magnaflow. any other advice would greatly be appreciated.

when i turn the wheel there is a lot of resistance and clunking noise coming from the front. the sharper the turn the worse it gets, tothe point it sounds like something is going to break . i also have some fluid that has been leaking from what i think is the left front differential. is this something i could tackle myself or should i jsut take it to the shop and prevent any headaches?
