Question 95 Silverado Starting problems

So I bought this Silverado from some dude....and yes, it had some problems. I put in a brand new starter, battery, alternator, rebuilt the fuel injector throttle body with all new gaskets, new fuel filter, and new fuel pump. The only time I took it in to a shop was for the fuel pump. Now, I have no idea who this guy was, but when he put in the new pump, the gas guage doesn't work anymore. I had this all done in Minneapolis MN, so I can't go back to him and get it fixed. But now the truck won't start. It sounds really healthy when it cranks to start, but doesn't seem to be getting that spark. I thought maybe I got some bad gas, so I put a can of Seafoam in it to try and stabalize the fuel. That didn't work either. So it takes me back to the fuel pump. Any tips or other ideas would greatly be appreciated.

Can you hear the fuel pump turning on? If not check the fuse to start with also I have heard that after market fuel pumps shell out soon even when brand new and placing on truck next time go with a Delco brand pump. I think there is two places where the fuel pump fuses are wait for someone else to chime in and tell you like 75K30 or other smart members as well. I'm also thinking that it might be a bad connection on pump.

sounds like he shorted a connection out when he put everything back in the tank. that would cause your gas gauge to be off since it is not getting any signal from the sending unit. turn the key to the on position and listen for the pump to run. it should run for a couple of seconds and cut off. if it aint, check a fuse like gmc said and if it looks good, look and test the connections coming out of the tank.

Well you may have answered your own question. Judging by what you've said you did good with the fuel system by replacing and rebuilding everyhing but you said seems like it aint getting that spark. Well have you looked into plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor. I think your truck has High Energy Ignition (HEI) so grabbing the plugs to see if they are getting juice is a bad idea trust me. Take one of the plugs out lay it on the block have a buddy crank it over see if you have spark and make sure it's a strong blue spark because a wimpy little yellow spark just won't cut it for firing over a big motor. Another thing if it is you pump why can't you get the guy to fix it. If your gonna have ashop do it make sure it's a good certified local shop. Good luck man!

try spraying some fuel don the throttle body, if its fuel it will kick. if it kicks, scan it check the reading on the temp switch. the comp will shut down the pump if it doesn't like the reading from the switch.....just a thought
