| Fuel pump? 96 Chevy 350 5.7l vortec auto. my truck had a hard time starting. i changed the fuel pump 2 years ago. i changed the fuel filter it helped. i have about 50 lb of pressure at the fuel line. the truck starts ok when i use it threw-out the day. when i leave it over night it dosen't start right away, it will start on the second try, somtimes on the third. i have a new battery in it. any ideas? if it is the fuel pump would taking the bed off be easier then dropping the tank? i droped the tank last time by my self it wasn't fun! |

| neither route is easy, i have tried both. it could be a fuel pressure regulator. have you tried pinching of your return line when you test the fuel pressure? |

| i would go withthe regulator.. i had the same exact probelm in mine. i had to cycle the key in the on/off position a couple times before it would start. changed the regulator and havent had a starting problem since... this was on a 00 jimmy 4x4 4.3 vortec but it is just a smaller version of yours so i would think its the same problem. hope you get it.. it is a pretty easy fix but you do have to pull the uper manifold to replace it. but after that its no problem |

| How fast does the starter turn the engine over, it may be getting weak and is working harder on the first turn to get everthing moving.......just a thought

| The easiest way I've found to change the fuel pump is by unbolting the driver side of the bed and loosening the bolts on the passanger side then ******* up the bed on the driverside to access the tank. The first truck I did I removed the tank it was a major pain. I've done 2 trucks with working the bed this way and found it to be much easier, but that's just my take on it.
