Surges as you increase speed

I have a 1995 1500 Chevy K truck V6, 5spd and it surges when I go into 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. It acts like I am not getting enough gas s we changed the gas filter, checked the ejectors and ran fuel cleaner and it appears to be getting worse.

My youngest son ran the truck through some big mud holes. Another person said it may be his transmission. Is it possible there is water mixed with his transmission fluid and that's all it is?

If anyone has any ideas I am open ears.

Thanks so much in advance!!

if it is surging when you are excellerating, i would check the ignition system. look at the cap and check your wires and plugs.

corrosion and dirt... they should almost look clean like brand new on the inside of the cap

If it has never had new plug wires then I would fit a set. If it has been a while since plugs were changed I would fit a new set. Dist. cap should be clean and have no cracks or spark "traces". You might also want to see if it is throwing any codes.

look underneath the cap. sometimes if you have some burnt spots in it, she will still fire at low RPM. however, at high engine speed when she is puttin the fire through it, the spark will jump and cause misfire.
they make a little light that fits between the plug and plug wire that indicates fire. dont believe it is that expensive. i have always used a screwdriver but try not to recommend doing that to people i do not know because getting hit with spark hurts.

is the SEL on?? if it is, check the codes on it and see what it says. the only reason i mentioned about the ignition is because you said it happened after your son took it muddin. bet he dont do that anymore anytime soon.
dont know about the MAP. possibility but dont see it. usually when something like that goes, it has a hard time starting and running and sometimes, wont start.

what s the SEL?

If you mean Service Engine Soon?? The check engine light comes on after about 30 minutes of driving and then he shuts it off for about 5 minutes and it goes out.
