Headliner Removal

Hey everyone,

The headliner is sagging in my truck (1989 k-1500 4x4, reg. cab) and I'm thinking of fixing it. I've found replacement headliners online (ebay and such),as well as do it yourself repair kits. Comparing prices ($299 + shipping vs $35 + shipping) has me leaning more towards getting the do it yourself kit. Has anyone out there ever done this themselves before?? It doesn't look to hard to do, however removing the headliner does look like it could be a challenge. any advice out there on how to remove the headliner, repair the headliner??

thanks!

remove the pillar covers and then its a snap to get out.. tilt it forward and then out the door.... you dont need a repair kit.. all it is is spray adhisive.. preferablely the water proof kind.. then just streach it over.. do one half at a time and then everything will line back up.. i have done it on trucks to 4dr cars and not one of them had a single problem

p.s. if you really want to go hog wild you can use small tacks on the back side to hold the fabric in place while it dries

you got it... spray both the fabric and the fider board headliner and let it tack... pull it tight and use a paint roller or like wise tool to smooth it out and press it on real good. if you get any wrickles pull it up again and start over.... some times it is a pain to get into the contours of it.. i use a small peice of cardboard and use it liek a putty knife.. done use anything to rigid because it will pull it and cause wrickles.. it is fairly easy to do.. if everyhting goes well you can have it back in your truck in a hour... good luck and if you have any other interior questions let me know

glad to see some help support my paycheck.....lol........3M........with most products you get what you pay for but i get deals on stuff by working there so you can imagine what his garage looks like

when the liner started coming loose in the s10 i had i just used a staple gun and tacked it that way..i didn't have time to do it the correct way and it actually didn't look bad being done with a staple gun
