1989 Silverado pickup will not stay running when put in gear

I just got this truck last week. I've owned lots of trucks and can usually figure things out pretty well to get them running right. I have changed the plugs, fuel filter, idle control sensor, the carborator sensor, changed the carborator, and fuel pump. I drove it home when I got it with alot of skill. It could not climb any hill it would bog to about 25 miles per hour. It would pick up speed if you feathered the pedal. When stopping if you didn't do the 2 step it would cut right out on ya. After I changed the carb, and did all the above mentioned to it, now if I unplug the sensors I just replaced, it will run smooth at an idle and dies as soon as it's put in gear. If I plug the sensors back in it spits and sputters to a start and doesn't want to run. If anyone out there has any suggestions or ideas I would greatly appreciate the feedback. This is the first time a truck has ever stumped me this way. Thanks so much

when you say carberator, im assuming you mean throttle body since that year had efi and carbs didnt have sensors on them. is the truck not showing an SEL yet?? did you buy a whole new throttle body unit and install that or what??

Yeah I put a new throttle body in, and changed the vaccum sensor that plugged into the back of the throttle body. It does show an ESL

it needs a fuel pump. The worst part is there is no schrader valve to test pressure. I've been down this road before. but thegood news is its a cheap pump.

Yeah I have family in alpena and I'm alway going to dupee's snowmobile graveyard to get parts!! I like living in this area but I'd like to move to a different scene I'm just getting tired of driving down the same roads climbing the same hills and wheeling the same holes! Good luck with your fix man! Wish I could've been of more help but these guys are smart and they'll get you on the right track!!

Good suggestion. Have you pulled the codes? If not do that and then clear any codes stored.
