| Transmission needed for my 2.2L(2180) out of a Pontiac SUNFIRE for my CHEVY S10 i have a problem. i have a shell of an S10 and i am going to put my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2L (2180cc) motor into it. i, however, am in need of a rear wheel drive transmission to match up with this motor. does anyone have any idea what transmission that would be? i know chevy used this motor in the s10 i am just unsure what would bolt up best? i have looked into the 4L60-E transmission i just wasn't getting any input on what would work. any help would be appreciated. |

| i have one question.... WHY? that motor is a ****... i dont think it will match up at all.. it is a front wheel drive motor.. the 2.2 they put in the s10s where completly different and really undisired.. they have no power and if your looking at it from a gas saver point of view its not really gonna be any better then the 4.3 that has plenty more power... sorry to bust your bubble but it just doesnt make sence to me |

| you didn't post what year s10, or what was in there? Also be aware that the parts are different between the pass and truck version of that motor

| the 4l60e with the right bell housing, flex plate, starter and corrected drive shaft length will work . Good luck sounds like you want to put a lot of yourself into this project? |

| you should be able to use any tranny gm makes.. 350, 400, 2004r, 700r4, 4l60e etc... The bellhousing on that motor should be the same. Only difference is the motor was sideways in the car...
